Elderly Couple Found Dead in Apparent Suicide at Puri; Police Probe Underway

An elderly couple was found hanging inside their residence at Senapati Bagicha under Talabania Police Station in Puri on Sunday morning, prompting an investigation by the police. According to the police, a written complaint was lodged at Talabania Police Station at around 8:05 AM by Shri Anusangit Mishra (32), son of the deceased couple. In his complaint, he stated that after having dinner on Saturday night, all family members retired to bed. At around 4:00 AM on Sunday, he woke up and discovered his father, Shri Anam Kumar Mishra (65), and mother, Smt. Sangita Mishra (60), hanging inside the house. Talabania Police registered UD Case Nos. 13/2026 and 14/2026 on June 21 and initiated an enquiry. ASI M. Kalas took up the investigation and conducted the inquest proceedings. The bodies were later sent to the ADMO, Puri, for post-mortem examination following due legal procedures. After the autopsy, the bodies were handed over to the family members, and the last rites were performed at Swargadwar crematorium in Puri.
