A tense situation and a clash broke out between the vendors and the Enforcement Squad of the Puri Municipal Corporation at the Badadand in front of the Singhadwar of the Puri Jagannath temple. The Enforcement Squad reached the spot to remove the illegal encroachment and asked the vendors who were doing business on the roadside to remove it. Tension increased after an argument between the two parties over this.

According to the complaint, the Enforcement Squad seized various items including the shopkeeper's khaja, dahibara pot, conch, anklet, and photo of the Lords and loaded them into a vehicle. It has also been alleged that some of the items fell on the Badadanda. Shopkeepers were seen running after the vehicle and pleading to get their goods back.

On the other hand, according to the Enforcement Squad, an announcement was made over the microphone earlier to vacate the Badadand by the 20th. They said that they were forced to launch the demolition campaign as the encroachment was not removed even after the stipulated time. The shopkeepers also claimed that they threw away the goods themselves.

While the incident caused a stir in Badadanda for some time, the shopkeepers protested against the administration's actions. The incident has also sparked discussion in the local community.
